bim - January 4, 2008 07:06 PM (GMT)
im bim, i like fishing when i get chance, altho i think that my car and decks are more of a part of me than what fishing is

JOHN - January 5, 2008 02:26 AM (GMT)
Hi everyone fishing is pretty much my passion i love nothing more than a session on the bank after my quarry. Although catching is nice i am as happy just to be there enjoying my surroundings and the nature that resides there. For this reason alone i choose not to fish featureless mud holes in the ground no matter what they may contain. The whole experience for me comes as a package and not sold as seperate.

John >>hello

Hello to all,Chris here

Predominatly a carper but coming from a match fishing background I still indulge myself with other species now and then.

Currently in a very nostalgic mood and thinking about buying a splt cane rod :D

Welcome mate, thanks for your support.
What happened to the chub fishing?

I hit the Welland at the worst possible time I reckon Martyn, very low, clear water

Spent most of October walking the river for when conditions are better but then went to Iceland in November which acted as a metaphorical full stop to the chubbing. Getting a winter ticket on Bundys took my head even further away from the Chub :D

The rivers been flooded lately,as have many of them, but seems to be fining down nicely so I might get down there again before the close.Problem being two of my carp tickets run till March/April and I'm not rejoining this year so was looking to give them a last blast ;)

Tips!! From me???

I haven't had a carp since August and only one Chub worthy of note in October so I doubt I should be passing out tips

Thanks for the welcome :)

John

I know what you're saying. With the bivvy and buzzer fishing its all too easy to end up just going through the motions

Thats not what I'd class as real "angling" anyhow.Angling should be more pro active, at least holding the rod :D

Been thinking about my angling since my Redmire trip last year and how much I enjoyed the fish i caught on my terms. Thats how I started fishing for carp in the 80s..1 rod which was used for surface fishing or stalking and the mobile approach.

Hi Steve
Thanks for joining, welcome back on dry land. Stick with the forum, early days.
Did you get sorted with a syndicate? Might be worth you going to the Micky Grey evening at Shortferry Angling, Sat 23rd Feb (that's next week, so dab in if you want to go), there is a few Carpfishing-UK Lincolnshire Mafia going who can point you in the right direction. I'll be there (but I'm not Mafia).
Anyone else want to go heres the link and the phone number for tickets Tel: 01526 399998

I will not be able to make next weekend, unfortunately! Prior commitment made by the good lady in my absence.
I think that I may have got a syndicate (or two) sorted, but just need to wait and see.

bof - April 10, 2008 09:36 PM (GMT)
Hi folks my name is BOF, thats an acronym for B..oring O....ld F...you supply the word. :D
I've been angling for 43 years, 99% of it specimen hunting, (but most of it was unsuccessful).
Done Carp*, Barbel, and Chub mainly, but dabbled, as most of my generation did, in almost everything.
*Covered a lot of waters from the Scotish borders to the Colne Valley as well.
Took early retirement and so spend far too much time if the weather is poor sitting in front of this thing typing away.

BOF ;)
(I'm on a learning curve still...its just still nearly vertical)

A1 JON - April 11, 2008 04:09 AM (GMT)
Welcome on board Bof, nice to to hear from a seasoned all round angler ( few and far between these days), feel sure you will enjoy your time on here. :D

bof - April 11, 2008 12:51 PM (GMT)
I hope so John.
Anyone wanting info on any of my prefered species ask away, and I will do my best to answer it sensibly, ( but I may not always succeed :D ).

BOF ;)
