It`s a few years since i saw Harthill mate went after the pike but never got any. It`s a series of 3 lakes all connected i wouldn`t like to put a size on them but they were quite substantial. From what i can remember it is a nice looking place and ciontains big carp bream and pike so the baliff at the time informed us. The only thing that put us off was a burn`t out car in the car park which didn`t give us a deal of confidence on leaving the vehicles. This could have been a one off but as a first impression was enough to persuade us. I should probrably go and have another look and If i was as local as you would consider it too. As for pre-baiting it certainly wouldn`t hurt to get a bit of your chosen bait in providing everyone else is not using the same. At first i would scatter a few baits all round the lake to at least give them a chance to get familiar with them and to ensure the fish even go near them. Feed them for a while like this rather than feeding one swim get them confident in finding and eating them everywhere so as to give yourself a chance.
John

Pebley Res.
A fairly hard water for Carp fishing, if you are unable to take advantage of "Norman's baiting up service".
Basically go up midweek and pay up front, put in your prebait, and then Norman will reserve that swim for you for the weekend. Not bad in this day and age.
The water also contains some nice Pike and the dreaded Bream, and the other drawback is having to fish occasionally with the above mentioned Editor (Crafty Carp).

Normans number is 0777 981 3355

just been down had a chat with norman and helped clear some rubbish up..(bloody kids!!) your right he lets you pre bait a peg and then you can reserve it!!fantastic! we were discussing doing some peg work in june/july when the water is down where are you fishing?

The fishing on Pebley is still a bit hit and miss at the moment, with Bream out to 10 1/2lb and Tench to 8lb on the bank in recent days. But the Carp have been only of modest size, (best would be around 15 / 16lb according to Norman), and the Pike are still half in and out of the spawning mode.
This can be good if you are spinning / lure fishing, as it can make some fish VERY aggresive, striking at anything at all flashy. On the other hand these fish do tend to be the males, which are the smaller fish.

Called in over the weekend for a look round.

Despite it blowing a hoolie, as you can see, the Carp were or had been, in "frisky" mode, and seemed to be around the marginal weedbeds, despite the presence of several anglers. So much so that they were actually sticking their backs out of the water in places, and just resting there.
Several of the Koi were easily visible pushing in and out of the Potomageton beds, within 12 to 15ft of the bank. Not huge fish but interesting to watch just the same.
Didnt get to have a chat with Norman, for a full update, maybe next time.
